Oristano overview

Although the words "I want to go to Oristano" are spoken about as often as "I would like to stub my toe", don't be fooled as this part of the island of Sardinia has a fascinating and unique culture that is still unknown to most tourists. Although tourism is becoming popular, it is still light in Oristano, which means that one can take in the sights without too much hassle or crowds. Most people come for the ancient churches, towers, and cathedrals that are all over the city, including The Tower of St. Christiphoros, St. Mary's Cathedral, The Church of St. Francis of Assisi, and the Church of St. Sebastian. The city is also home to a five hundred year old horse tournament, which is an event that must be witnessed to be believed as it involves masked horsemen who show off the long tradition of horse riding in Oristano.
