Padova Travel Guide
People who live in Padova would have you believe that it is the oldest city found in Northern Italy and to look around it would be hard to argue, as the city is home to many ancient sights. Like most parts of Italy, Padova is famous for its art, but it is also known to have one of the oldest universities in Italy and has often been called the birthplace of higher education in the country. Many of the country's most famous artists studied in Padova, including Giotto and Donatello, and several of the cathedrals in the area were copies of a design by some guy named Michelangelo. In case Michelangelo is not famous enough for you, another guy named Shakespeare used the city as the setting for the play The Taming of the Shrew. Padova is a place that has been praised by poets and artists alike.
