Stresa overview

Found on the shores of Lake Maggiore in northern Italy, Stresa offers one of the most unique tourist experiences in Italy. Your experience will be the same unique experience that thousands of other people are having, but don't be disheartened, just because Stresa is a popular tourist location, it doesn't seem crowded. Like most of the places found on Lake Maggiore, Stresa offers spectacular views, as well as many interesting archeological sites. The city became somewhat famous when it was a location in Hemingway's Farewell to Arms and in 2002 the city cashed in by hosting a Hemingway conference. Stresa is one of the many places in Italy where you can visit a place where a famous writer got drunk. There are also several 18th century villas that are worth visiting, one which has been turned into the International Centre for Rosminian Studies.
