Vicenza overview

Vicenza is one of northern Italy’s gems. It sits between Venice and Verona in Veneto Province and is famed for its Palladian-style buildings, which lead to the entire old town being included on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. The city is literally stuffed to the gussets with fantastically beautiful churches, palaces and villas; many of which were the brainchild of master architect Andrea Palladio. One standout place is the 16th century Basilica in the Piazza dei Signori. Vicenza is also big into gold and jewellery and is well within reach of the Dolomites for those into lofty scenery and hiking. To get in, the best bet is to fly to Venice International Airport or train it over.
